Welcome all to the 10th edition of Rated Mature! This week I will try my best to breakdown just what may happen come that historical month of November. Plus as usual I'll throw a few small inside news stories as I always do. Well since I hate intros lets start!

The past few months have seem to be in a minor slump for the video game industry. The blame could have went towards the announcement of Sega going third party, Sony Dropng the ball with the PS2 launch, or just plain and simple, no good games. Sure I know what your thinking, Keldon what are you talking about!?! (insert your game here) was great! And I love all those shitty Army Men games for the PS2!(maybe not). Well what I mean by that simple statement was that there really hasn't been a game that everyone has on the tip of their tounge for a while. You know like when Mario Bros, Mortal Kombat, or even the Pokemon fad. Well to be honest, I don't think this is a bad thing. let me take you back to the early 80's when Actvision and Atari were going head to head. There was a major slump in home console sales and a majority of the games didn't have that certain passion. Then all a sudden a little plumber came along with a beautiful clunky box and extra small controller and called his stomping grounds by kicking all other console companies in the junk. Well I want you to think about that in a nice detailed fashion. It was the Atari 2600 vs. Coleco Vision vs. vs. Intellivision. If you break that down in the riht matter you have that the Nintendo Entertainment System(NES) came in, Coleco went thrid party for a few months before selling out to the other two companies. That left Atari, Intellvision, and newcomer Nintendo in the mix. both Atari and Intellvision launched new consoles around the same time only to have them both fail under the lack of killer third party support and lack of technology placed in there systems compared to the Nes. As well all know Nintendo really became the sole survivor of that nasty battle. I want you too look at the story again. Place the names of Sega Dreamcast in place of Coleco Vision, then place Sony's name in place of Atari, this may sound wierd but place Nintendo's name in place of Intellvision, and last but not least place Microsoft in place of NES above. You can read read that story and you will see a HUGE similarity between 1985 and 2001. To be honest I could actually see it go down that way as well. I mean come on! Sega took the third party route, Nintendo and Sony both suffered from aweful launch dates with the N64 and PS2. Plus look for Microsoft to make a huge splash come this November. The thought Oof history repeating itself is scary huh?

On May 16 all three of the contendors of the November battle threw down there gloves and stsrted going at it in post fight interviews. I mean we got guys from both Sony and Nintendo bad mouthing Microsoft by claiming "there nothing and have nothing" also we heard " they have no support from (insert your name here)". While all this was going on, Nintendo and Sony was also using there powers with franchises such as Game Stop/Funcoland and EB World to make them stop taking early pre orders or they wouldn't supply there stores with a decent amount of there consoles and games. But to steal a quote from the Simpsons, " One one suspects the butterfly". Of course I beleve that Microsoft is the butterfly. Sure I know that Sony and Nintendo do reconize that the X-Box is out there otherwise they wouldn't be throwing petty threats and downright stupid tactics. You KNOW they look Microsoft as a threat or they wouldn't have done the things they did!

Ok sorry about that outburst but I'm better now...ahem..

Before I start the news in this edition I want to congradulate The Video Gaming Industry on turning 40 this week! The very first game "space wars" was created and given out on PDP-1 main frames everywhere! But it didn't become popular until the next year. Plus Nintendos very own Super NES turns 10 this month as well. So I truly thank both of the creators of those projects.

It appears that that Konami is breaking new grounds in releasing the US version of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty before the Japanese version. Look for MGS to hit this November on the PS2 and December in Japan. No official word has been given on the X-Box version yet, but its expected to be December or January.

Infogrames officially announced that they will use the name of Atari whe they release select titles on each console. The first two games that will use the Atari name will be the Unreal series and Stuntman.

The rumors of Square looking to publish games on other systems has finally become true! The first system they looked at was of course Game Cube, but since Square shot Nintendo down by not supporting the N64, don't expect to hear any Final Fantasy games on the GC or the GBA as well. However Microsoft has shown major interest in getting Square signed on for there green and black wonder known as the X-Box. Squares prez himself stated that he was very impressed by what the X-Box could do and its broadband abilites(a-la FF XI).

Well that does it for this hard hitting edition of Rated Mature. The creation known as xboxcorner.com is coming along quite well and we plan to launch pretty soon. So stick around for that cause its gonna be awesome! Well I must now get back to my trusty GBA and kick my friends butt at Fire Pro Wrestling and stomp him at Konami Krazy Racers as well...adios!
