Genre: Action
With some of the best water
effects ever seen on a console title, Blood Wake
seems to be very similar to a Playstation title
called "Dead in The Water". But early
reports state that Blood Wake is an Asian-themed
boat combat game that settles itself into being a
mission based game.
Microsoft and Storm Front did
an excellent job so far with the basic bump
mapping layout. The way the sun reflects off of
the water had to take a tremendous time and
effort to complete. If you leave your boat
sitting in ther water, it will move up and down
in a rocky motion as if the water was real. It
appears that Stormfront used wave modeling to
create this motion. Once you open the throttleand
start moving across the water, your boat will
make a nice wave splashing effect on the water
and the boat will bounce off the waves in a very
vibrant motion.
The controls were said to be
easy to learn and can be very fun once you give
yourself enough time. Your boat is equiped with a
machine gun and a seconary weapon of your choice
with the touch of a face button. The range of
weapons is a nice selection of anything from
missiles to homing torpedos. Plus Blood Wake
offers diferent kinds of shields to protect your
boat!
Boats range greatly in size,
from small, fast, lightly armed boats to
gigantic, heavily armed but sluggish battle
cruisers. The game's four-player multiplayer
option will allow you to play simple
free-for-alls, as well as various team-based
games.
Though the game isn't close to
being finished yet, Blood Wake's got some real
potental to stand out over the rest of the X-Box
titles to hit stores around launch time. Blood
Wake is currently scheduled to hit the shelf in
November.
