World War II, this phrase alone
strikes fear in many of millions of people around
the world. So many brutial courses of action were
taken to deep measures during this time in the
world so that one group or another could claim
world dominance. Digital Illusions looks to cast
a brighter light onto these gruesome events by
giving the player the most immersive first person
shooter experience to date with Battlefield: 1942
on Microsoft's Xbox. In Battlefield: 1942 the
player will be hurled onto the battlefield (as is
indicated by the title) with a plethora of
vehicles, a huge variety of weapons, and much
much more. Battlefield: 1942 places you as a
low-level solder that has to complete missions
successfully to gain higher rank in the army. As
you work your way up the chain of command you
will be privy to more and more information about
your upcoming battles. The player will have the
option of selecting from one of the following
player classes: Medic, Scout, Soldier, Pilot,
Engineer, and Marine. Each class will have
specific equipment such as: binoculars, mines,
parachutes, and World War II radios. The game
will include a whopping 16 historical battles in
4 unique campaigns ranging from North Africa to
the Pacific ocean. The player will also have an
arsenal of 16 time period specific weapons
including pistols, machineguns, rocket launcher
and many more. Not only will the player be
immersed in battle by the weapons in scenery, but
you will also be able to pilot 23 authentic World
War II vehicles including: including tanks, cars,
APCs, SPGs, fighters, bombers, carriers,
battleships, destroyers, submarines and landing
craft. Battlefield: 1942 will not only include
impressive gameplay details but the graphical
details are nothing short of spectacular. Not
only are the in game graphics looking phenomenal,
the finer details which top off the fun are
perfectly intact as well. Special graphical
nuances run abound in Battlefield: 1942. Real
time craters will be present on the battlefield,
allowing the terrain to react to accordingly to
an impacted mortar shell. Every single tree and
building which are present in the game have the
potential to be destroyed. Specific body and
armor damages will be included, and structural
detail also run rampant in this game as tanks
armor will be front heavy, bombers engines are
the most vulnerable point of the plane, and (of
course) headshots are lethal. Battlefield: 1942
will immerse the player in all the action of
World War II and should be one of the premiere
titles on Microsoft's new Xbox console. Rest
assured that we will bring you all of the news on
this exciting first person shooter in the coming
months before the title's launch.
